Dessert pizza? really?? YES!
As true Italian, I grew up munching on many different pizza, and I have to admit that one of my favourite is the pizza dessert.
I always chose the pizza with Nutella cream, vanilla ice cream and pine nuts served at my favourite pizza spot; thin crust topped with warm Nutella and ice cream… Such a treat!
At my workplace we celebrated Valentine’s day this year with a chocolate dessert challenge potluck and that’s why I thought to serve my own creation twist of my favourite dessert: chocolate strawberry pizza dessert.
Your tongue and mouth will water with the bready feeling of the crust when you bite into it all smothered with a rich chocolate mousse and strawberry mascarpone cream and a crunch of the almonds!
1 pizza dough portion (see recipe in my blog)
½ cup chocolate mousse (see recipe below)
5 Tbsp strawberry mascarpone sauce (mascarpone cheese mixed with strawberry jam)
Few strawberries sliced
Few slivered almonds
1 Tbsp brown sugar
Chocolate Mousse recipe:
3 egg yolks, ½ cup butter melted, 1 cup sugar, 2 cups cream, 1+1/2 cup chocolate
Bring cream to simmer, add chocolate and stir till melted. Whisk yolk and sugar till fluffy and pale yellow, stir in melted butter. Pour chocolate cream over egg sugar mixture, whisk to combine. Refrigerate for at least 6 to 8hrs.
Pre-heat the oven at 500F. Make the strawberry mascarpone sauce by mixing 4tbsp mascarpone and 1tbsp strawberry jam, keep aside.
Flat the pizza dough in a baking pan to be pre-baked before topping it, prick holes with a fork all over the dough as this will avoid the inflating of the dough while baking; sprinkle the brown sugar on the rim. Bake for 8-10 minutes till fully cooked.
Once dough is baked, let it cool down before topping it.
Spread the chocolate mousse, spoon dollops of the strawberry mascarpone cheese, top with the sliced strawberry and slivered almond.
And: ENJOY! The best dessert…
